Recently, I learned of an exciting opportunity for cancer survivors interested in getting in shape. It is called “Prescription Health,” and is co-sponsored by the Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA, Mercy Medical Center, and the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
The program consists of weekly group fitness classes incorporating a variety of exercise routines. In addition to exercise, Prescription Health also provides wellness and nutritional counseling. The course lasts for eight weeks, and there is no charge to enroll. The plan includes a thorough fitness assessment both before and after the program. Any cancer survivor is a candidate.
More information can be obtained from Cindy Gates, the program coordinator. Her contact number is 712-252-9425.
Also, here is a link to an online article about this program from the Sioux City Journal.
